“Spitz on Sports” returns to WENG radio March 30

(Venice, FL) Radio colleague Rich “Spitz” Spedaliere tells me that “Spitz on Sports” is returning to the WENG airwaves. The show will air every Monday through Wednesday from 5-6 pm beginning March 30th, making it the only live and local sports talk show originating in Sarasota and Charlotte Counties.

Host Rich Spedaliere commented “With my wife’s health improving and with her blessing I thought it was a good time to bring the show back to the listeners of the Suncoast. I am very happy to have secured an afternoon drive time slot and look forward to taking listeners home with the interviews with local and national guests as well as an edgy view of the sports world they’ve come to expect.”

Baltimore Orioles Return to CBS Radio’s 105.7 The Fan

(Sarasota, FL) The Orioles today announced a new multi-year deal naming CBS RADIO’s 105.7 The Fan (WJZ-FM) the flagship station of the Orioles Radio Network. Beginning in 2015, fans will be able to hear all 162 Orioles regular season games, select spring training contests from Sarasota and around Florida plus extensive Orioles programming on 105.7 The Fan and across the seven-state, 34-station Orioles Radio Network.

In addition to expansive game coverage and pre- and post-game shows, the new partnership will bring exclusive Orioles programming to 105.7 The Fan backed by the power of CBS RADIO’s cluster of stations, including Today’s 101.9 (WLIF-FM) and Mix 106.5 (WWMX-FM).

Orioles games will continue to be called by the broadcast team of Joe Angel and Fred Manfra, who return for their 12th season together on Orioles radio coverage.

The Orioles’ radio rights return to 105.7 The Fan, where the station had previously broadcast Orioles games between 2007 and 2010. Currently, 105.7 The Fan is one of the highest rated sports talk radio stations in the United States.

“With a dedicated FM presence, a strong network of local CBS RADIO stations, and an around-the-clock lineup of sports programming, 105.7 The Fan is the ideal flagship home for the Orioles Radio Network,” said Orioles Vice President of Communications and Marketing Greg Bader. “Partnering with the region’s premiere radio destination for sports fans and CBS RADIO’s powerful cluster of stations allows us to effectively reach our diverse fan base on a daily basis and to develop valuable multiplatform marketing opportunities for our sponsors.”

CBS RADIO Baltimore’s Senior Vice President Bob Philips said, “We are thrilled that the Baltimore Orioles are coming home to 105.7 The Fan. This partnership with the Orioles is a great addition to our market leading #1 sports brand and platform in Baltimore.”

“The Orioles thank WBAL Radio for their previous partnership and for the station’s role in documenting Orioles baseball through the years,” Bader concluded.

105.7 The Fan is owned by CBS RADIO, a division of CBS.
