Bradenton Marauders announce 2015 FSL Schedule

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders, the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will play its first 2015 home game on Saturday, April 11, at McKechnie Field. The Marauders open the season on the road for the third consecutive year, kicking off the Florida State League schedule on Thursday, April 9, at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie. The Marauders face the St. Lucie Mets (New York Mets) in both the season opener and the home opener.

Marauders home games will start at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Games on Wednesdays and Sundays will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday home games in August will shift to a 5:00 p.m. first pitch. The game on Wednesday, July 15 will be played at 6:30 p.m. Three additional Wednesday games will begin at 10:30 a.m. The morning games will be on May 27 (Education Day), July 8 (Camp Day), and July 29 (Camp Day). Gates will open one hour prior to the start of all regularly scheduled home games.

St. Lucie will be the Marauders’ most frequent opponent in 2015. The Marauders and Mets face each other 20 times, including 10 meetings at McKechnie Field. The other four South Division teams, Fort Myers (Minnesota Twins), Jupiter (Miami Marlins), Palm Beach (St. Louis Cardinals), and St. Lucie (New York Mets) will each visit McKechnie Field for nine games in 2015. Fort Myers is the defending Florida State League Champion.

Each North Division team will visit McKechnie Field for four games this season. The first interdivisional series is May 26-29 against the Daytona Cubs (Chicago Cubs). The Marauders host Tampa (New York Yankees) from June 15-18, take on Brevard County (Milwaukee Brewers) June 27-30, face Lakeland (Detroit Tigers) July 15-18, and welcome Dunedin (Toronto Blue Jays) July 22-25. Clearwater (Philadelphia Phillies) comes to McKechnie Field for two two-game visits, June 10-11 and July 28-29.

Media Invited to Cover Orioles Youth Baseball Clinic Wednesday at Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota

(Sarasota, FL) On Wednesday, July 9, Orioles players and coaches will conduct a baseball clinic on the main field at Ed Smith Stadium for 50 children from the North Port Family YMCA. The clinic will begin at 10:30 a.m. with instruction in pitching, hitting, fielding, throwing, and base running. Media covering the event may park in the East Lot at the corner of 12th Street and Tuttle Avenue and enter through the Left Field Gate.

Orioles minor league players scheduled to participate include: Jacob Bray, Bobby Bundy, Eddie Gamboa, Randolph Gassaway, Michael Joseph, Andy Loomis, Kris Richards and Matt Taylor.

The Oriole Bird will also be present and refreshments will be provided to all participants.

Bradenton Marauders host St. Lucie Mets and Tampa Yankees this week at McKechnie Field

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders host the St. Lucie Mets (New York Mets) and Tampa Yankees (New York Yankees) during a five-game home stand this week at McKechnie Field. The home stand starts on Tuesday, July 8 and continues through Saturday, July 12. All five games begin at 6:30 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

Marty Claus will bring the holiday spirit to McKechnie Field on Tuesday, July 8. The Marauders are celebrating Christmas in July. Marty Claus will be available for pictures with children on the outfield boardwalk during the game. Baseball Bingo and PLS Print will be played. Children will be able to run the bases after the game in the Kids Fun Run.

The Marauders and Mets play the middle game of their three-game set on Wednesday, July 9, then finish the series on Thursday, July 10. July 10 is Evan Chambers night. The Marauders will honor the memory of Chambers, a former Marauders player who passed away suddenly last December. The first 500 fans will receive Evan Chambers #53 t-shirts. Chambers was a dedicated volunteer with the Foundation for Dreams, and the Marauders will hold a silent auction at the game to raise money for the charity. Additionally, a portion of the night’s launch-a-ball proceeds will be donated to the Foundation for Dreams. All second half long, the Marauders will be donating $1 for each game program sold to Foundation for Dreams.

July 10 is also a Thirsty Thursday. Sodas and select draft beers cost just $1.

Friday, July 11 is Military Appreciation Night and a Free Shirt Friday. Admission is free with a valid military ID. The first 500 fans will receive a Marauders camouflage t-shirt.

Every Friday home game is also a Happy Hour Friday. Between 5:30 and 6:30, 500 free hot dogs will be given away and there will be great drink specials from Kayem and Cheney Brothers.

Saturday, July 12 is Go Fly a Kite Night. The first 500 fans will receive a free Marauders Kite. Fans will be invited onto the field after the game to fly kites in the outfield. Baseball Bingo and will be played during the game.

July 12 is the fourth installment of Bark in the Park. Bark badges for dog admission cost just $2, with proceeds benefitting the Humane Society of Manatee County.

Baltimore Orioles to host Dream Week in Sarasota January 25-31, 2015

(Sarasota, FL) Baltimore Orioles fans of a variety of ages and abilities will enjoy a week filled with once-in-a-lifetime experiences at the team’s 2015 Dream Week. Held at the Orioles’ two-site complex in Sarasota, Florida (Ed Smith Stadium and the Buck O’Neil Baseball Complex) from January 25-31, 2015, Dream Week offers participants the full major league treatment, playing daily doubleheader intra-squad games and receiving instruction from former Orioles including Hall of Famer Jim Palmer, Mike Boddicker, Al Bumbry, Rick Dempsey, Mike Devereaux, Chris Hoiles, Scott McGregor.

In addition to on-field play, participants will enjoy luxurious beachfront accommodations on Lido Key in Sarasota; a personalized home uniform and road batting practice jersey and hat; daily breakfast and lunch at the ballpark; evening social events throughout the week, including a Q&A and autograph session with former players in attendance; and a reunion game at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore during the 2015 regular season.

Dream Week is open to men and women 30 years of age or older. Fans of all skill and ability levels attend the camp each year, and are able to participate in as many or few of the games as they wish. There is no prerequisite of experience or physical ability required to attend. Other amenities provided during the week include a clubhouse locker, treatment by Orioles athletic trainers and laundry service by clubhouse attendants. Participants will play doubleheader games each day at the Buck O’Neil Baseball Complex at Twin Lakes Park. The championship game will be played at Ed Smith Stadium. Team and pro staff photos, in addition to a Dream Week Video produced by the Orioles award-winning video productions staff, are included to help campers savor their memories.

Dream Week is $4,125 plus Florida sales tax and includes round-trip airfare from Baltimore to Tampa; ground transfers to and from the airport to the team hotel and six-night, seven-day hotel accommodations (double occupancy, private rooms are available) at the Lido Beach Resort. Bradenton Marauders Host Star Wars Night July 19 to raise funds for Center for Building Hope

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders will hold Star Wars Night on Saturday, July 19 when the team hosts the Clearwater Threshers at McKechnie Field. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The game will help benefit the Center for Building Hope in the fight against Cancer.

The Marauders will dress in jerseys custom made to resemble the uniform of Star Wars character bounty hunter Boba Fett. The jerseys will be auctioned off in a silent auction held during the game to benefit the Center for Building Hope. Auction winners will be invited onto the field after the game to receive their jersey and have it autographed by the player of coach wearing it.

A survivor’s walk around the warning track will be held at 5:45 to recognize all cancer survivors in attendance. A charity balloon pop is also being held during the game to benefit the Center for Building Hope. Fans will be able to pay $10 or $20 to pop a balloon and receive the prize that corresponds to the chosen balloon.

Fans can get pictures with their favorite Star Wars characters at picturesque McKechnie Field. A full cast of costumed characters will be in attendance. The Marauders also encourage their fans to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters. A costume contest will be held in the sixth inning to determine the best dressed.

Gulf Coast League Orioles Open Season Friday at Ed Smith Stadium

(Sarasota, FL) The Baltimore Orioles Gulf Coast League (GCL) team will play its first home game of the 2014 season at the Ed Smith Stadium complex on Friday, June 20 at 12:00 p.m. against the GCL Rays. The GCL, which includes 14 teams in Florida, gives recently drafted or signed players their first experience in professional baseball.

The Orioles are scheduled to play 30 GCL home games between June 20 and August 28. The games are open to the public at no cost. Parking also is free and is located in the east lot on the corner of 12th Street and Tuttle Avenue. Game times and location are subject to change without notice.
