CBS Radio’s 105.7 The Fan To Broadcast 12 Baltimore Orioles Spring Training Games

(Sarasota, FL) The Baltimore Orioles and CBS RADIO’s 105.7 The Fan (WJZ-FM), the flagship station of the Orioles Radio Network, have announced that 12 Orioles Spring Training games will be broadcast in 2017. The schedule begins with the home opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday, February 26, at 1:05 p.m. ET. The broadcast schedule also features eight additional home games in Sarasota, including the March 7 game against Manny Machado and the Dominican Republic team as part of the World Baseball Classic exhibition schedule. The final three broadcasts will feature 30-minute pre-game and post-game shows.

105.7 The Fan will again broadcast all 162 Orioles regular season games this season. Longtime Orioles Radio Network broadcaster Joe Angel will return for his 18th season and pair with veteran broadcaster Jim Hunter for most games. Hunter, who will continue to appear on MASN’s game broadcasts, enters his 21st year as a member of the Orioles broadcast team. Former Orioles pitcher Ben McDonald and MASN broadcaster and Orioles Hall of Famer Mike Bordick will return and provide analysis for several games throughout the season. Longtime Orioles Radio Network broadcaster Fred Manfra, who will retire from his full-time duties after 24 seasons, will still broadcast select home games.

In addition to the Spring Training schedule, 105.7 The Fan will take the Norris & Long Show on the road to Sarasota between March 13 and March 17. Houston Cougars and San Diego State Aztecs Face Off in Las Vegas Bowl Saturday in the Desert

(Las Vegas, NV) One of the better matchups in the 2016 edition of the college bowl season takes place in Las Vegas Saturday as the Houston Cougars (9-3) face the San Diego State Aztecs (10-2) at Sam Boyd Stadium in the 25th edition of the Las Vegas Bowl. Major Applewhite will get his first opportunity to coach the team after being named the head coach after Tom Herman left to take the head-coaching job at Texas. Meanwhile, Rocky Long led his Aztecs to the Mountain West Conference title for the third time in his six years at San Diego State.

The game features two powerhouse offenses and two offensive stars to keep an eye on. For Houston, Quarterback Greg Ward Jr. averaged over 300 yards passing per game leading the Cougars to the fourth best offense in the nation with nearly 350 yards per game. Aztecs running back Donnel Pumphrey rushed for 2018 yards this season, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Currently second, he has a chance to break the all-time NCAA FBS rushing record of 6290 yards in his final college game.
