Rachelle Madrigal Named Bradenton Marauders General Manager

(Bradenton, FL) The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced that Rachelle Madrigal has been promoted to Director, Sales and General Manager of Bradenton Marauders. The appointment, which is effective immediately, was announced by Dennis DaPra, Executive Vice President and General Manager of PNC Park and Facility Management.

Madrigal has worked for the Pirates since 2007, most recently holding the title of Manager, Sales and Marketing. In addition to taking point on the day-to-day operations of the Bradenton Marauders, she will continue to oversee all sales and marketing initiatives for both Pirates Spring Training and the Marauders.

“Rachelle has been a key leader for our organization in Florida and has helped expand our operations in Bradenton exponentially,” DaPra said. “Our success with Spring Training and Florida State League baseball at McKechnie Field will continue to grow under Rachelle’s leadership.”

Madrigal was recognized as the Female Executive of the Year in the Florida State League in 2014. She is currently the only woman to hold the general manager title in the league. She is a 2007 graduate of UMass Amherst.

Justin Kristich, who has served as the Coordinator of Ticket Operations at McKechnie Field since the inaugural Marauders season in 2010, has been promoted to Manager, Sales and Assistant General Manager of Bradenton Marauders. In addition to continuing to operate the McKechnie Field ticket office, Kristich will expand his involvement in sales, marketing and gameday operations. He is a 2008 graduate of the University of Florida.

A.J. Grant, who took over the general manager position after the 2013 season, will transition to a new role as Director, Operations. Grant will be in charge of the facility operations at both McKechnie Field and Pirate City.

The Bradenton Marauders are in their sixth season of Florida State League baseball at McKechnie Field. The Pirates have held Spring Training in Bradenton every year since 1969.

Bradenton Marauders Announce 2015 Promotional Schedule

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders today announced the 2015 promotional schedule for weekly and daily promotions. Single game tickets for the 2015 Bradenton Marauders season will go on sale on Monday, February 2 at 9:00 a.m. Purchasing tickets in advance provides a $2 savings on day-of-game pricing for adult tickets. The Marauders open the 2015 regular season on Saturday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Marauders fans can stretch a dollar on Sundays at McKechnie Field. Every Sunday home game is a Family Fun Sunday, featuring $1 tickets and $1 hot dogs. After the game, all kids 12 and younger will get to run the bases during the Kids Fun Run. The Marauders will also combat the heat on Sundays by offering Splash Days with giant inflatable water slides provided for fans to cool off.

Tuesdays, the First Mates Kids Club takes over the ballpark. Membership in the First Mates Kids Club is available to all children 12 and younger. The club offers the option of a free membership or a $15 membership jam packed with more than $170 worth of value. Free memberships include a membership card, a free ticket to two Tuesday home games, a $2 discount on tickets to all other Tuesday home games, a 15 percent team score discount, and the opportunity to play catch on the field at two select Tuesday home games. Paid members additionally receive a free ticket to all 10 Tuesday home games, a bonus ticket to a Sunday game featuring an ice cream social with the Marauders team, a club t-shirt, a free meal at each Tuesday game, and numerous on-field experiences throughout the season. After the game, all kids 12 and younger will get to run the bases during the Kids Fun Run. Fans of all ages can enjoy Baseball Bingo at each Tuesday home game.

Also on Tuesdays, Chick-fil-A is giving fans two tickets for the price of one. Stop by the Chick-fil-A at the DeSoto Square Mall to pick up a buy one, get one free Tuesday night coupon. Coupon distribution will begin in early April.

Every Wednesday from April 15-September 2 is Marauders Fan Appreciation Day at Papa John’s Pizza. Whether the Marauders are at home or on the road, Papa John’s Pizza will offer 50 percent off online orders to fans that use the promo code MARAUDERS50. This offer is valid at participating Papa John’s locations only.

Thirsty Thursdays presented by Budweiser and Ticket Sarasota gives fans a chance to fill up their cups without emptying out their wallets. Sodas and select draft beers will cost just $1. Join the Thirsty Thursday Club, your ticket to Thirsty Thursdays, for only $60 to receive a club t-shirt, a ticket to every Thursday game, special concessions discounts, and the opportunity to earn great rewards all season. Each club member gets to start their Thursday night off right with one free 12-ounce beverage at each Thursday home game. Marauders season ticket holders can join the Thirsty Thursday Club for just $10.

Happy Hour Fridays presented by Pier 22 Restaurant kick the weekend off right. Great drink specials will be offered from 5:30 p.m.-6:30p.m. Every Friday is a Free Shirt Friday. The first 750 fans receive a free Marauders t-shirt with a different theme each week.

Saturday nights are Silverauders Night. Fans age 60 and older can join the Silverauders club for $30 and receive a free game ticket and meal voucher to each Saturday home game, a club t-shirt, and other great membership benefits. Saturday night will also feature Baseball Bingo.

New in 2015, the Marauders are introducing a Lady Marauders Club. Membership is $50, and includes a ticket to each Saturday home game, invitations to participate in members only pregame events, happy hour specials at the ballpark, a club t-shirt, and more. Season ticket holders can join the Lady Marauders Club for just $10.

The Marauders 2015 home opener is Saturday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. against the St. Lucie Mets. The game will be Pirates and Princesses Night featuring horse and carriage rides. The first 500 fans will receive a Marauders magnet. Bright House Networks and Budweiser present postgame fireworks on opening night. Additional fireworks shows are scheduled for June 12, July 3, August 15, and September 4.

The 2015 Bark in the Park series presented by ABC 7 will be held on April 19, May 26, June 27, July 23, and August 16. Bark badges will cost an additional $2 on the price of admission with the proceeds benefitting the Humane Society of Manatee County.

Popular annual promotions returning in 2015 include the pre-game Easter Egg Hunt on April 12, Superhero Night on May 1, Halfway to Halloween on May 26, Military Appreciation Night presented by Miller High Life on July 24, and the Fifth Annual Condiment Duel on July 17. Star Wars Night returns to McKechnie Field on July 18, featuring appearances by characters from the iconic science fiction film franchise and a jersey auction to raise money to help the Center for Building Hope combat cancer. The Marauders will also be aiding the fight against cancer on April 18 with American Cancer Society Relay for Life Night presented by Blake Medical Center.

The Marauders will offer three free ticket nights in 2015. April 20 is a Free Ticket Night presented by A/C Warehouse, with free ticket vouchers available at A/C Warehouse at 710 60th Court Street East in Bradenton. May 18 is a Free Ticket Night sponsored by Goodwill Manasota – donate or shop at any Goodwill in Manatee County or Sarasota County to receive a free ticket voucher. J.D. Byrider presents the third and final Free Ticket Night on June 15.

When purchased in advance, tickets for the regular season Marauders games cost $8 per seat for adult tickets in infield box, infield reserve, baseline box, and grandstand seats. Left field bleacher seats cost $6 per adult ticket. Tickets for children 12 and younger cost $7 in infield box, infield reserve, baseline box, and grandstand sections, and $5 per ticket in the left field bleachers. There is no change in day-of-game pricing for children’s tickets. The Marauders will offer a $1 military discount for Monday-Saturday home games to anyone presenting a valid military ID at the McKechnie Field box office when purchasing tickets.

The McKechnie Field box office hours are from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on week days when there is not a Pirates Spring Training home game until March 30. On weekends, the box office will be open from 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. when there is not a home game. Spring Training day-of-game box office hours will be 9:00 a.m. until 30 minutes after the final out.

Bradenton Marauders tab Michael Ryan as 2015 Manager

(Bradenton, FL) The Pittsburgh Pirates today announced their minor league managerial and coaching assignments for the 2015 season. The announcement was made by Larry Broadway, Pirates Director of Minor League Operations.

Michael Ryan will manage the Bradenton Marauders in the team’s sixth season. Ryan, the fifth manager in franchise history, succeeds Tom Prince, who will manage the Double-A Altoona Curve in 2015. Ryan managed the Class A West Virginia Power in 2013 and 2014. He helped guide the Power to a franchise record in wins in 2013. His two-year managerial record stands at 136-139. This is Ryan’s third season coaching in the Pirates organization.

Scott Elarton joins the Marauders as pitching coach for 2015. Elarton is in his second season with the Pirates organization. He instructed the Gulf Coast League Pirates hurlers in 2014.

Ryan Long will be the Marauders hitting coach for the second time in his coaching career. Long is in his seventh season with the Pirates organization. He last coached the Marauders in 2011, before spending each of the last three seasons in the same role with Altoona.

Miguel Perez rounds out the Marauders coaching staff. Perez was a member of Ryan’s West Virginia coaching staff last season.

Ryan, Elarton, Long, and Perez all bring Major League playing experience to the Marauders. Ryan played professionally for 15 seasons, including parts of five seasons in the Majors with the Twins and Angels. Elarton, a first round draft selection in 1994, spent 10 seasons in the Majors with Houston, Colorado, Cleveland, and Kansas City. Long played 10 professional seasons, reaching the Majors with Kansas City in 1997. He collected his first Major League hit against 2015 Hall of Fame inductee Randy Johnson. Perez highlighted a 12-year playing career by appearing in the Major Leagues with the Reds in 2005.

Ryan, Elarton, and Perez all played in the Florida State League during their minor league careers. Coming up in the Twins organization, Ryan spent the 1999 season with the Fort Myers Miracle. Elarton won 12 games with the Kissimmee Cobras in 1996 as a member of the Astros organization. Perez caught for the Sarasota Reds in 2005 and played in the Florida State League All-Star Game as a Cincinnati farmhand.

Justin Ahrens will be the Marauders athletic trainer. Alan Burr will be the team’s strength and conditioning coach.
The first Marauders game at McKechnie Field in 2015 is on Saturday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Bradenton Marauders announce 2015 FSL Schedule

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders, the Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, will play its first 2015 home game on Saturday, April 11, at McKechnie Field. The Marauders open the season on the road for the third consecutive year, kicking off the Florida State League schedule on Thursday, April 9, at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie. The Marauders face the St. Lucie Mets (New York Mets) in both the season opener and the home opener.

Marauders home games will start at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Games on Wednesdays and Sundays will begin at 1:00 p.m. Sunday home games in August will shift to a 5:00 p.m. first pitch. The game on Wednesday, July 15 will be played at 6:30 p.m. Three additional Wednesday games will begin at 10:30 a.m. The morning games will be on May 27 (Education Day), July 8 (Camp Day), and July 29 (Camp Day). Gates will open one hour prior to the start of all regularly scheduled home games.

St. Lucie will be the Marauders’ most frequent opponent in 2015. The Marauders and Mets face each other 20 times, including 10 meetings at McKechnie Field. The other four South Division teams, Fort Myers (Minnesota Twins), Jupiter (Miami Marlins), Palm Beach (St. Louis Cardinals), and St. Lucie (New York Mets) will each visit McKechnie Field for nine games in 2015. Fort Myers is the defending Florida State League Champion.

Each North Division team will visit McKechnie Field for four games this season. The first interdivisional series is May 26-29 against the Daytona Cubs (Chicago Cubs). The Marauders host Tampa (New York Yankees) from June 15-18, take on Brevard County (Milwaukee Brewers) June 27-30, face Lakeland (Detroit Tigers) July 15-18, and welcome Dunedin (Toronto Blue Jays) July 22-25. Clearwater (Philadelphia Phillies) comes to McKechnie Field for two two-game visits, June 10-11 and July 28-29.

Bradenton Marauders host St. Lucie Mets and Tampa Yankees this week at McKechnie Field

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders host the St. Lucie Mets (New York Mets) and Tampa Yankees (New York Yankees) during a five-game home stand this week at McKechnie Field. The home stand starts on Tuesday, July 8 and continues through Saturday, July 12. All five games begin at 6:30 p.m., with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

Marty Claus will bring the holiday spirit to McKechnie Field on Tuesday, July 8. The Marauders are celebrating Christmas in July. Marty Claus will be available for pictures with children on the outfield boardwalk during the game. Baseball Bingo and PLS Print will be played. Children will be able to run the bases after the game in the Kids Fun Run.

The Marauders and Mets play the middle game of their three-game set on Wednesday, July 9, then finish the series on Thursday, July 10. July 10 is Evan Chambers night. The Marauders will honor the memory of Chambers, a former Marauders player who passed away suddenly last December. The first 500 fans will receive Evan Chambers #53 t-shirts. Chambers was a dedicated volunteer with the Foundation for Dreams, and the Marauders will hold a silent auction at the game to raise money for the charity. Additionally, a portion of the night’s launch-a-ball proceeds will be donated to the Foundation for Dreams. All second half long, the Marauders will be donating $1 for each game program sold to Foundation for Dreams.

July 10 is also a Thirsty Thursday. Sodas and select draft beers cost just $1.

Friday, July 11 is Military Appreciation Night and a Free Shirt Friday. Admission is free with a valid military ID. The first 500 fans will receive a Marauders camouflage t-shirt.

Every Friday home game is also a Happy Hour Friday. Between 5:30 and 6:30, 500 free hot dogs will be given away and there will be great drink specials from Kayem and Cheney Brothers.

Saturday, July 12 is Go Fly a Kite Night. The first 500 fans will receive a free Marauders Kite. Fans will be invited onto the field after the game to fly kites in the outfield. Baseball Bingo and will be played during the game.

July 12 is the fourth installment of Bark in the Park. Bark badges for dog admission cost just $2, with proceeds benefitting the Humane Society of Manatee County.

Bradenton Marauders to Hold Evan Chambers Night at McKechnie Field July 10

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders will hold Evan Chambers Night on Thursday, July 10, to pay tribute to the former outfielder who passed away suddenly last December. Chambers played with the team in 2011 and 2012, appearing in the third most games of any Marauder in franchise history. The first 500 fans at the game will receive an Evan Chambers T-shirt with his jersey number, 53, on the back.

Chambers was dedicated to community service in the cities he played in, and as a native of nearby Lakeland, he was especially dedicated in the Bradenton area. One of Chambers’ favorite places to volunteer was at Dream Oaks Camp, a camp for children with special needs, chronic illnesses, and terminal illnesses. Dream Oaks Camp is funded and operated by Foundation for Dreams, Inc. For every copy of “The Marauders Magazine”, the official game day program of the Marauders, sold at McKechnie Field in the second half of the season, one dollar will be donated to the Foundation for Dreams. Additionally, the Marauders will hold a silent auction featuring memorabilia and game day experiences at the July 10 game to benefit the charity. One half of the night’s Launch-a-Ball proceeds will go to the Foundation of Dreams as well.

The players and coaches of the Marauders will wear an “EC” patch on their caps for the game in memory of Chambers. The team will also wear the Evan Chambers t-shirts for a pregame ceremony, with every member of the team lining up as number 53. Children from Dream Oaks Camp will take the field with the Marauders as baseball buddies.

Bradenton Marauders Open July with Homestand and Celebration of America on Thursday Night

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders will host the Fort Myers Miracle (Minnesota Twins) at McKechnie Field for a three-game series from July 1-3. All three games will begin at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m.

Tuesday, July 1 is a First Mates Kids Club Night. Baseball Bingo will be played. Children 12 and younger will have the opportunity to run the bases after the game. Additionally, the remaining “The Designated Hitter Does Not Participate in Baseball Bingo” t-shirts for the rained out game on June 27 will be given away when gates open at 5:30 p.m.

The series continues on Wednesday, July 2 and concludes on Thursday, July 3. The Marauders will don red, white, and blue patriotic jerseys on July 3 that will be available for silent auction bidding during the game. Winning bidders will be invited onto the field after the game to receive their jersey and have it autographed by the player or coach that wore it. Thirsty Thursday specials will be in effect, meaning sodas and select draft beers will cost just $1.

A spectacular postgame fireworks display presented by Zambelli Fireworks will light up the sky over McKechnie Field. After the fireworks, hang out in the Fan Plaza for a concert by Nuthin’ Fancy a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band.

Bradenton Marauders Host Star Wars Night July 19 to raise funds for Center for Building Hope

(Bradenton, FL) The Bradenton Marauders will hold Star Wars Night on Saturday, July 19 when the team hosts the Clearwater Threshers at McKechnie Field. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The game will help benefit the Center for Building Hope in the fight against Cancer.

The Marauders will dress in jerseys custom made to resemble the uniform of Star Wars character bounty hunter Boba Fett. The jerseys will be auctioned off in a silent auction held during the game to benefit the Center for Building Hope. Auction winners will be invited onto the field after the game to receive their jersey and have it autographed by the player of coach wearing it.

A survivor’s walk around the warning track will be held at 5:45 to recognize all cancer survivors in attendance. A charity balloon pop is also being held during the game to benefit the Center for Building Hope. Fans will be able to pay $10 or $20 to pop a balloon and receive the prize that corresponds to the chosen balloon.

Fans can get pictures with their favorite Star Wars characters at picturesque McKechnie Field. A full cast of costumed characters will be in attendance. The Marauders also encourage their fans to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters. A costume contest will be held in the sixth inning to determine the best dressed.
