(Sarasota, FL) The Jazz Club of Sarasota will presents a free “Joy of Jazz” concert on Sunday, March 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. with the Jim Wellen Quintet. The band will perform in the gazebo at Centennial Park, 200 W. Venice Ave., Venice, FL.
The Jim Wellen Quintet will perform classic jazz standards and music from the Great American Songbook with Jim Wellen, tenor sax, Billy Marcus, keys; Dick Hamilton, trombone; John Lamb, bass; and Al Hixon, drums.
Concertgoers can bring chairs or blankets for this free outdoor concert, which is the third in an annual series co-sponsored by the Gulf Coast Community Foundation. It replaces the Joy of Jazz concert previously scheduled for Jan. 22 but canceled because of a storm.

The Jazz Club of Sarasota, founded in 1980, is dedicated to preserving, promoting and presenting jazz, America’s original musical art form. (Sarasota, FL) The Jazz Club of Sarasota will present Bill Buchman’s Art of Jazz featuring Nancy Pastore on Sunday, February 19 with a free outdoor concert from 2 to 4 p.m. in the gazebo at Centennial Park, 200 West Venice Avenue, Venice. Joining pianist Buchman and vocalist Pastore are Rob Fors on bass, Lenny Balistreri on drums and Benietsito Campoverde on congas. The concert is co-sponsored by Gulf Coast Community Foundation.
The group will perform an afternoon of jazz favorites and Buchman is sure to bring some of the boogie-woogie beat that always delights audiences.

(Sarasota, FL) The Jazz Club of Sarasota presents the Joy of Jazz in a free concert with the Marc Mannino Jazz Quintet on Sunday, January 22, from 2-4 p.m. at Centennial Park Gazebo, Venice Avenue, Venice. Guitarist Mannino leads the group, with Pete Carney on saxophone, John Miller on bass and Bob Lunergan on drums. Shari Morningstar is the vocalist.
Mannino, former director of jazz studies for music at SCF, is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Music with degrees in both Music Performance and Music Education. He earned his educational specialists degree by applying existing music research to a real-life classroom setting, proving that music as a reinforcer has the ability to modify behavior. A lifelong music educator, Mannino has taught kindergarten through post-secondary music. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force bands and has performed at major jazz and community festivals in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, Miami and Toronto, Canada.
