Jazz Club of Sarasota To Hold Free Bill Buchman Art of Jazz Outdoor concert this Sunday Afternoon in Venice

(Sarasota, FL) The Jazz Club of Sarasota will present Bill Buchman’s Art of Jazz featuring Nancy Pastore on Sunday, February 19 with a free outdoor concert from 2 to 4 p.m. in the gazebo at Centennial Park, 200 West Venice Avenue, Venice. Joining pianist Buchman and vocalist Pastore are Rob Fors on bass, Lenny Balistreri on drums and Benietsito Campoverde on congas. The concert is co-sponsored by Gulf Coast Community Foundation.

The group will perform an afternoon of jazz favorites and Buchman is sure to bring some of the boogie-woogie beat that always delights audiences.

Jazz Club of Sarasota Free Joy of Jazz Concert Scheduled in Venice Sunday Afternoon Cancelled due to rain forecast

(Update 1/21/17) The following announcement from the Jazz Club of Sarasota regarding Sunday’s concert: WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT THIS SUNDAY’S, JANUARY 22ND, FREE JOY OF JAZZ CONCERT IN VENICE CENTENNIAL PARK FROM 2-4 PM HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER. NEXT JOY OF JAZZ CONCERT WILL BE SUNDAY FEBRUARY 19TH 2-4 PM

(Sarasota, FL) The Jazz Club of Sarasota presents the Joy of Jazz in a free concert with the Marc Mannino Jazz Quintet on Sunday, January 22, from 2-4 p.m. at Centennial Park Gazebo, Venice Avenue, Venice. Guitarist Mannino leads the group, with Pete Carney on saxophone, John Miller on bass and Bob Lunergan on drums. Shari Morningstar is the vocalist.

The Quintet will play music from the Great American Songbook, jazz instrumentals and popular music with a jazz feel.

Mannino, former director of jazz studies for music at SCF, is a graduate of the Florida State University College of Music with degrees in both Music Performance and Music Education. He earned his educational specialists degree by applying existing music research to a real-life classroom setting, proving that music as a reinforcer has the ability to modify behavior. A lifelong music educator, Mannino has taught kindergarten through post-secondary music. He is a veteran of the United States Air Force bands and has performed at major jazz and community festivals in Atlanta, Chattanooga, Knoxville, Memphis, Miami and Toronto, Canada.
