“The NFL On CBS Scores Highest Rated NFL Game of the Weekend

(New York, N.Y.) CBS Sports’ Week 3 national doubleheader coverage of “The NFL On CBS” on Sunday, Sept. 21, highlighted by Super Bowl XLVIII rematch Denver-Seattle in overtime, was the highest-rated NFL game of the weekend on any network earning an average household rating/share of 16.9/32, up 16% from last year’s 14.6/28 (Indianapolis-San Francisco, Buffalo-N.Y. Jets, Jacksonville-Seattle) in the metered markets.

Yesterday’s national game window HH rating/share peaked at 21.0/36 from 7:30-8:00 PM, ET during overtime.

“The NFL On CBS” Week 3 early regional coverage, which included games Houston-N.Y. Giants, Oakland-New England, Baltimore-Cleveland, Indianapolis-Jacksonville, Tennessee-Cincinnati and San Diego-Buffalo earned an average HH rating/share of 11.1/24, up 44% from last year’s 7.7/16 (Houston-Baltimore, Cleveland-Minnesota, San Diego-Tennessee) in the metered markets.

“NFL Monday QB” Returns to CBS Sports Network for Third Season

(New York, NY) “NFL Monday QB” returns to CBS Sports Network for its third season, as new “NFL On CBS” analyst Trent Green, a 15-year NFL veteran and All-Pro quarterback, joins returning analysts, Super Bowl XXXVII quarterback and 2002 NFL MVP, Rich Gannon; and 17-year veteran and All-Pro quarterback, Steve Beuerlein, for the weekly show.

Boomer Esiason and Phil Simms also will serve as analysts throughout the season. Adam Schein hosts from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York.

“NFL Monday QB” brings together a roster of quarterbacks providing their unique and compelling opinion as they break down the week’s games from a quarterback’s perspective focusing on how quarterback play impacted the games, key plays and clutch drives, crucial decisions, star performances, winning and losing efforts and more.

The one-hour show debuts Monday, Sept. 8 at a special season-opening time (5:00-6:00 PM, ET). After Week 1, “NFL Monday QB” airs weekly at 6:30 PM, ET through Super Bowl XLIX.

Green, who joins the “NFL On CBS” as a game analyst this season, quarterbacked for the San Diego Chargers (1993-94), Washington Redskins (1995-98), St. Louis Rams (1999-2000, 2008), Kansas City Chiefs (2000-06) and Miami Dolphins (2007). His career was highlighted by his contributions to his hometown Rams’ victory in Super Bowl XXXIV over the Tennessee Titans, and with the Chiefs in 2001 when he became only the fourth quarterback, at the time, to throw for more than 4,000 yards in three consecutive seasons (Dan Fouts, Peyton Manning and Dan Marino). Also during his time in Kansas City, Green twice led the Chiefs into the playoffs and played in two Pro Bowls. He finished his career passing for 28,475 yards and 162 touchdowns, while compiling a quarterback rating of 86.0.

Former NFL’er London Fletcher Named Studio Analyst for CBS Sports Network’s “That Other Pregame Show”

(New York, NY) Former 16-year NFL veteran and All-Pro linebacker London Fletcher and nine-year NFL veteran Fred Smoot have been named studio analysts for CBS Sports Network’s “That Other Pregame Show”, along with former Women’s Professional Football quarterback Anita Marks. They join returning panelists Adam Schein, Amy Trask and Brandon Tierney to form CBS Sports Network’s new Sunday pregame show team.

“TOPS” kicks off its second season on Sunday, Sept. 7 and airs on Sundays throughout the NFL season from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM, ET.

Other regular contributors to “That Other Pregame Show” are analysts from “The NFL Today” including Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher, Tony Gonzalez and Bart Scott, as well as Insider Jason La Canfora. NFL on CBS announcers Phil Simms, Dan Fouts, Trent Green, Rich Gannon, Solomon Wilcots, Steve Tasker, Steve Beuerlein, Adam Archuleta and Chris Simms will appear regularly from their game sites.

Fletcher joins CBS Sports Network after a 16-year NFL playing career with the Washington Redskins, Buffalo Bills and St. Louis Rams. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection (2009, 2010, 2011, 2012) and helped the Rams win Super Bowl XXXIV.

Smoot spent nine seasons in the NFL with the Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings and was an All-American and two-time All-SEC selection at Mississippi State.

Marks is a radio veteran who can currently be heard on NBC Sports Radio and also contributes to the New York Giants broadcast team and Bleacher Report. She has previously appeared on WFAN radio in New York as well as SiriusXM. In addition to her broadcasting duties, Marks also played four years of women’s professional football as quarterback for the Miami Fury and Florida Stingrays.

CBS “Thursday Night Football” Announcer Crew and Schedule Released

(New York, NY) The complete pregame and postgame talent roster for Thursday Night Football on NFL Network and CBS is set. Joining the previously announced set featuring host James Brown and analysts Deion Sanders and Bill Cowher will be an additional set featuring host Rich Eisen and analysts Michael Irvin, Marshall Faulk and Steve Mariucci.

Every Thursday at 6:00 PM ET on NFL Network, Eisen will kick off the NFL week with Irvin, Faulk and Mariucci live from outside the stadium on NFL Total Access Kickoff. The cast will provide news and analysis of the upcoming matchup, as well as highlight the atmosphere and festivities outside the stadium as fans arrive for every Thursday Night Football game on CBS and NFL Network.

At 7:30 PM ET, Brown, Sanders and Cowher anchor NFL Thursday Night Kickoff from inside the stadium. The show will air on CBS and be simulcast on NFL Network during Weeks 2-8 and air exclusively on NFL Network during Weeks 9-12 and 14-16. During halftime, Brown, Sanders and Cowher host the Lexus Halftime Show on CBS and NFL Network.

Brown, Sanders and Cowher also will appear on NFL Total Access Kickoff in the 6:00-7:30 PM ET window, while Eisen, Irvin, Faulk and Mariucci will appear within NFL Thursday Night Kickoff from 7:30 PM ET to kickoff.

Additionally, throughout the course of the 2014 Thursday Night Football schedule, NFL Network and CBS analysts such as Tony Gonzalez, Kurt Warner, LaDainian Tomlinson, Willie McGinest, Terrell Davis and more will appear on-location on both the NFL Total Access Kickoff and NFL Thursday Night Kickoff pregame shows.

Immediately following each game, the Mazda Postgame Show airs live from the stadium on NFL Network and CBS. Eisen, Irvin, Faulk, Mariucci and Sanders reprise their wildly entertaining postgame show, providing highlights, analysis and live interviews. Each week, a player or coach from the winning team will join the crew on-set to discuss the victory, receive a gift bag which will vary each week and leave their handprints on the Winning Hands wall.

The full slate of 16 regular-season Thursday Night Football games will be produced by CBS with its broadcasters and production team, including Jim Nantz, Phil Simms and Tracy Wolfson. The Thursday Night Football schedule kicks off on September 11 with Steelers vs. Ravens from Baltimore.

CBS Sports Announces NFL Broadcast Teams for 2014 Season

(New York, N.Y.) The CBS Television Network will begin its 55th year of broadcasting the NFL with Jim Nantz, Phil Simms and Tracy Wolfson leading THE NFL ON CBS into the Network’s 2014 NFL season. Nantz, Simms and Wolfson will call the full slate of Thursday Night Football games on CBS and the NFL Network, along with selected Sunday games on CBS. Sean McManus, Chairman, CBS Sports, and Executive Producer, THE NFL ON CBS, announced today several changes to the 2014 announcer line-up along with the complete list of broadcast pairings.

Ian Eagle and Dan Fouts have been named THE NFL ON CBS’s No. 2 announce team and will call the network’s top game on Sundays when Nantz and Simms do not call a game.

Wolfson, who served as the Network’s lead college football reporter for the past 10 years, will join the lead announce team of Nantz and Simms as THE NFL ON CBS lead reporter. In addition to Wolfson, THE NFL ON CBS will use additional sideline reporters during the season including Jenny Dell and Evan Washburn.

Other pairings this season include Greg Gumbel teaming up with newcomer Trent Green, Kevin Harlan with Rich Gannon, Spero Dedes with Solomon Wilcots, and Andrew Catalon forming a three-man booth with Steve Tasker and Steve Beuerlein.

James Brown once again will anchor the CBS Television Network’s pre-game studio show, THE NFL TODAY, along with analysts Boomer Esiason, Bill Cowher, and newcomers Tony Gonzalez and Bart Scott, from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City. Jason La Canfora will continue to serve as the “NFL Insider.”
